Peter Hills
Peter Youngblood Hills has lived the rich life of a nomad. Now based in Los Angeles, he was born in Africa and raised between Europe and the United States. From a young age, he was drawn to the visual and performing arts. While living in England he came upon an old camera and started to “Capture Consciousness”. Peter combines both writing and imagery to help support the viewer in the process of “Remembering Ones Self”.
Through his visual poetry, Peter shows us a perception of the world that is infused with mystery and metaphor, a world that he feels surrounds us all.
Leonardo DiCaprio discovered his photography work in the late 90’s, and put together a successful exhibition for him in Los Angeles in 2002. In 2005 he had the idea to involve Peter in his current environmental Documentary, “The 11th Hour”, but this time, instead of still photography, Peter would create 16mm impressionistic life portraits, adding a unique dimension to the documentary.
His work is of a very personal nature and he hopes he can continue to share with others the beauty and the sacredness of the stories that he has been blessed to witness.
