Lucinda McDermott Piro

Lucinda McDermott Piro is an actor, playwright, director, and facilitator of Creative Leadership programs. She is an award winning playwright whose produced plays include O'Keeffe!, Feeding On Mulberry Leaves (both published by PlayScripts, Inc.), Shatter the Vessel-the Controversial Life of Bishop James A. Pike, Bricks, Souvenirs and others. Lucinda’s acting background includes theatre in New York, regionally, commercials, voice overs and independent films. She is also a musician who irregularly performs with her husband.

Lucinda's fascination with exploring the dance between spirituality and art was most likely initiated by her father, a former sculptor and art professor entering the ministry when she was four years old. Rev. William L. McDermott was given a two year survival outlook at that time as he was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). That he survived for twenty-seven years most likely fanned the flames of Lucinda's quest.

She holds a MFA in playwriting from the Univ. of VA., a BFA in performance from VA Commonwealth Univ., and studied acting in NYC with Michael Moriarty, Rob Spera, and at HB Studios. She is a member of Actors Equity Assoc., and the Dramatists Guild of America. She lives in the mountains of Virginia with her husband singer/songwriter Jon Piro, and their two children Willa and Dante.
